Google Messages, a popular messaging app for Android users, may soon offer a highly anticipated feature: the ability to edit sent messages. This news comes from code references discovered in the app’s beta version by The SpAndroid.
While Google has not made any official announcements regarding this feature, its presence in the beta suggests it is actively under development. This addition would bring Messages on par with other popular messaging apps like iMessage and WhatsApp, which already offer similar functionality.
Apple introduced message editing in iMessage with iOS 16, allowing users to fix typos or rephrase a message within two minutes of sending it. Meta followed suit in 2023 by adding the feature to WhatsApp, with a slightly longer 15-minute window for edits. Both platforms also offer the option to delete sent messages.
