EDUCATION NEWS IN NEPAL
Introduction:
The Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Ashok Kumar Rai, has encouraged the celebration of National Education Day on September 19. He called for the Day to be observed at various levels, including provincial, local, school, and social organizational levels.

- Minister Rai made the call while addressing a meeting of the National Education Day Programme Main Committee on Sunday. He said, “National Education Day is an important occasion to reflect on the progress made in the education sector and to rededicate ourselves to the goal of providing quality education to all”.
- Minister Rai also stressed the need to give special attention to improving the status of education in the Madhesh province. He said, “The Madhesh province has been lagging behind in the education sector, and the government needs to take special measures to address this issue”.
The meeting formed several committees to oversee the preparations for National Education Day. These committees include the Programme Coordination Committee, the Award Nomination Committee, the Programme Management Sub-committee, the Souvenir Publication Sub-committee, the Cultural Programme Sub-committee, the Publicity Sub-committee, and the National Education Day Motto Selection Taskforce.
The National Education Day honors the day on which the bill related to education was certified by the President. The legislation is based on the constitutional duty of the State to provide free and compulsory education up to the basic level.
The bill was certified by then President Bidya Devi Bhandari on September 18, 2018.
