Kathmandu: It has been revealed that Google earns 79 cents (about Rs. 105) when a user downloads an app on the Play Store once. Economist Douglas Bernheim in a conversation with The Verge claimed that Google will earn as much as app downloads on the Play Store in 2021.
Sean Hollister, a reporter for The Verge, interviewed Bernheim, an economist, on Serofero, the ongoing lawsuit between Epic Games and Google. In the conversation, economist Bernheim mentioned that Google‘s profit from app downloads has increased by five times compared to 2015. According to Economist Bernheim, Google’s monopoly in the Play Store is being consolidated due to the increase in profits.
Similarly, he claimed that Google’s earnings on the Play Store are increasing every year. According to him, Google earned 61 cents in 2020, 46 cents in 2019, and 35 cents in 2018 from each download on the Play Store. Similarly, it earned 26 cents in 2017, 19 cents in 2016, and 15 cents in 2015.
