Government Website Outage Continues, Impacting Public Services
Introduction:
The citizens of Kathmandu are facing significant inconvenience as the government’s website remains non-functional, causing disruptions to public affairs services. Despite efforts to rectify the issue, the government’s integrated data center, which hosts numerous websites, has been experiencing prolonged downtime since an incident on Tuesday evening.
According to Pradeep Paudel, the executive director of the National Information Technology Center, the government’s integrated data center and other systems experienced downtime following an explosion in the transformer of the Nepal Electricity Authority located within the Singha Darbar. Despite resolving the power supply issue at the Government Integrated Data Center (GIDC), the data center itself has not been able to fully restore its operations.
The extended unavailability of websites belonging to various ministries, departments, and agencies has adversely affected the delivery of public services. Citizens relying on online platforms for accessing government information, submitting applications, and availing services have encountered significant hurdles during this period.
