Inauguration of Nepal Sanskrit University

Introduction

On February 15th, 2023, Nepal Sanskrit University will witness a significant moment when President Bidya Devi Bhandari inaugurates the Teaching Hospital building at 11 am. The building was completed five years ago at a cost of over 2472 million and was constructed by a construction company, which handed over the completed building to the university in November 2017.

The ceremony will mark a special moment for the university, as the head of state will lay the foundation stone of the building. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other reasons, the inauguration was delayed, and the building was used as a special hospital to treat COVID-19 patients by the Lumbini state government.The building was formerly utilized for hands-on instruction of Bachelor of Ayurveda (BAMS) students, but the Outpatient Department (OPD) has ceased operations.

The current BAMS students continue their studies in the building, which is divided into three sections and three floors, with a total of 108 rooms. This visit by the head of state marks the first time a President has visited the university since King Birendra’s attendance at the first convocation ceremony in 1998.

Security measures have been tightened ahead of the President’s arrival to ensure her safety. The event holds a lot of significance for the university, which eagerly awaits the ceremony marking the building’s inauguration.
