Jaljala Rural Municipality Makes Public School Education Compulsory for Children of Government Salary Recipients

Date: May 3, 2023

Overview:

Jaljala Rural Municipality in Parbat has recently made public school education mandatory for children of government salary recipients to improve the quality of education and increase the number of students in public schools. The decision was taken by the Executive Committee meeting under the chairmanship of Rural Municipality Chairperson Raju Acharya and will be strictly implemented, with monitoring to ensure compliance.

According to Trivikram Acharya, the Education Branch Officer, the municipality will strictly enforce the decision of enrolling children in public schools and conduct monitoring to ensure adherence. The decision applies to children of civil servants, public representatives, teachers, school employees, and other employees who receive salaries and allowances from state sources. These children must be admitted to public schools from the new academic session.

The municipality plans to collect data on children according to the call and campaign to teach their children in public schools, along with plans to improve educational quality. If the children of government salary recipients do not comply with the decision to enroll in public schools as specified, the rural municipality is preparing to take additional measures.

Chairperson Acharya believes that the quality of government schools cannot improve unless leaders, government employees, and teachers enroll their children in public schools. Enrolling children of government salary recipients in public schools, as per the rural municipality’s decision, will help address the deteriorating education quality and low enrollment rate in public schools caused by parents preferring private schools for their children.

Conclusion: The mandatory enrollment drive in public schools will offer equal opportunities for all students and advocate education as a fundamental right for everyone. This move will effectively narrow the education gap and pave the way for a brighter future for students.
