EDUCATION NEWS IN NEPAL

Lawmakers have taken an important step by registering amendments concerning the School Education Bill, 2080, which is currently being considered in the House of Representatives. This move aims to address the agreement reached between the government and the Confederation of Nepalese Teachers (CNT).

Following discussions on the principles of the bill, which took place from October 8 until 4:00 p.m., members of the House of Representatives were granted a 72-hour window to submit their proposed amendments.

A total of 150 amendments have been registered, which will be tabled in the House for integration. The amendments address a number of issues raised by CNT, including teacher rights and welfare.

The agreement between the government and CNT was reached after the teachers’ union launched a Kathmandu-centric protest for the amendments in the original bill.
