Kathmandu. 16 Feb. Anti-MCC protest had begun on Wednesday outside the House of Representative building where the government was supposed to table MCC. Activists, the general public, members and leaders of CPN ( Maoist Centre), and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have joined this protest warning government not to ratify MCC.
The protesters had carried banners and placards demanding the government not to ratify MCC.
The protesters, who were holding the demonstration outside the HoR building were fired with water cannons and tear gas by Nepal Police with the purpose of dispersing the large crowd, but it was countered when protesters pelted stones and bricks at the police.
The government has postponed the parliament meeting without concluding any decisions on MCC.
