Introduction

Mid-West University was established on June 17 2010 with a Parliament Act by the Government of Nepal under the concept of a Multi-University System. The University was called “Mid-Western University” upon its establishment but recently in 2020, the university was renamed as Mid-West University. The university is a state-supported institution built on the land donated by the government. It is an autonomous public institution for higher education established with the mission to serve the people of Nepal enriching global learning by spreading the advantages of higher education.

Mid-West University aims to promote advanced learning and the distribution of knowledge for the overall welfare of the country. The university is dedicated to becoming a Centre of Academic Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Research. The University attempts to implement academic courses and programs that cater for the requirements of international benchmarks in higher education as well as the social and economic context of Nepal.

The courses offered by the university are designed to meet the requirements and standards in areas such as quality job-oriented education. The academic programs developed by the University are developed in consultation with civic, educational and business leaders of the community and government ministries.

Mid-West University aims at forming fruitful partnerships and collaboration with universities and institutions of international reputation to enhance the educational standards for the overall welfare of the faculty members as well as students. The university is pursuing a culturally diverse and newly emerging academic institution open to the exchange of ideas; a place where discovery, creativity, personality and professionalism can flourish.

 The vision of the University is to expand the pros of higher education to the people of Karnali  Province and the nation and contribute to the broader global learning community.

It has been working as a leading business school, having an affinity with local government, business industry, education and development sectors. MUSOM has been awarded the Best Business School of Karnali during its 5th NEWBIZ Business Schools Conclave & Award 2019.
