NEPAL GOVERNMENT withdraws DECISION to withhold NOC for DIPLOMA and after CLASS 12
Date: April 27, 2023
Introduction:
The government of Nepal has reversed its previous decision to not issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for Nepali students seeking to pursue diploma and advanced diploma courses after completing their class 12 exams.
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology had earlier stated that NOCs would only be issued to students pursuing Bachelor’s degrees or higher, citing concerns about students dropping out of school and disrupting their academic progress.
However, after facing widespread criticism from the public and various education stakeholders, the government has decided to withdraw its previous decision.
The decision has been welcomed by students and education experts alike, who argued that limiting NOCs to Bachelor’s degree programs only would have deprived many students of opportunities for higher education and skills development.
Conclusion: The reversal of the government’s decision will allow Nepali students to pursue diploma and advanced diploma courses after completing their class 12 exams. This move is expected to benefit a significant number of students who may not be interested in pursuing Bachelor’s degrees and may opt for vocational or skill-based training.
