On Saturday, the ruling coalition government, which itself is mired in a debate about whether or not to approve the MCC Agreement with parliament, filed an impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana. The indictment was signed by a total of 98 lawmakers from the alliance Nepalese Congress, the CPN-Maoist Centre, and the CPN-Unified Socialists.
