TU Central Library will have a New Building

On March 15, Minister of Education, Science and Technology and Pro-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Devendra Poudel and Indian Ambassador of Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra both jointly laid the foundation stone of Tribhuvan Central Library. This construction project is built under USD 50 million grant assistance by the Government of India for the education sector.

The building was damaged by the 2015 earthquake and is being reconstructed at a total cost of Rs.361.9 million. The library building will provide a 24-hour study facility for readers and researchers. The three-storey library building will include a separate computer lab for e-library facility, hall for seminar workshop, exhibition room, and other ancillary facilities.

An agreement to complete the construction of the building in 15 months was concluded. On the day, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Government o Nepal and the Embassy of India for the project’s completion.

The ‘state-of-art’ library building will be built Earthquake-Resilient with technical expertise from the Central Building Research Institute of India.
