Education Ministry Calls for Applications to Fill Vacant Chairman Position at TU Service Commission
KATHMANDU, Aug 9
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST) has announced a significant step toward filling the year-long vacant Chairman position at Tribhuvan University (TU) Service Commission. The committee tasked with selecting the right candidate for the role is now actively seeking applications from eligible individuals who have held the position of associate professor or higher. Interested candidates are urged to submit their applications, complete with personal details, by August 11.
The absence of a Chairman at the Commission, following the conclusion of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s term on August 3, 2022, has led to operational challenges within the TU Service Commission. An earlier attempt to fill the position was initiated through a notice on September 3, 2022, which resulted in the preparation of a ‘shortlist.’ However, due to unforeseen circumstances, this process was subsequently canceled, prompting the need for a fresh announcement and renewed application process.
Search for New Vice Chancellor Nears as Current Tenure Nears End
In a related development, the attention of Prime Minister and Chancellor Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been drawn toward the upcoming vacancy in the position of Vice Chancellor at Tribhuvan University. The current Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Dharma Kant Baskota, is set to conclude his tenure on November 3.
With only three months remaining in his term, Vice-Chancellor Baskota officially informed Prime Minister Dahal of the impending vacancy on August 1. In light of this, efforts are being made to ensure a seamless transition and the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor before the position becomes vacant.
These developments mark significant milestones in the education sector, as Tribhuvan University takes steps to ensure leadership continuity and operational effectiveness.
