A meeting was with the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security of Nepal, Krishna Kumar Shrestha and the United Arab Emirates Minister for Human Resource, Dr Abdulrahaman Al Awar. According to the Ministry, matters related to bilateral interest and welfare of the Nepalese workers in UAE were discussed in the meeting.

The two ministers agreed to work together to resolve the problem of the stranded Nepalese who arrived in UAE with a Visit Visa tempted by employment opportunities and confront the guilty who were responsible for the situation. UAE Government agreed to charge the guilty individuals and institutions who brought people to UAE with false promises of employment.

On the occasion, UAE Minister Awar expressed his commitment to establish skill development training centres and help build competent human resources by investing in capacity building. UAE also promised to support Nepal to establish a labourer’s hospital.

The ministers also discussed the issues regarding social security, workforce safety, health and insurance, and a pay hike for Nepali workers in the UAE.
