Nepal Telecom (NTC) has announced a significant reduction in roaming charges for prepaid and postpaid users traveling to India and Thailand. Effective from May 17, 2023, on the occasion of ITU Day 2023, Ntc has lowered the tariff to just Rs 7 for calls made within these countries.
The new roaming charges introduced by Ntc aim to benefit users who wish to stay connected with their loved ones while abroad. With this reduced tariff, users can make calls to any Indian phone number for only Rs 7. Receiving calls from Nepal or any other country will also cost Rs 7 per minute. The same rate will apply for SMS.

Country | Outgoing Call (per min in NRs) | Incoming Call (per min in NRs) | SMS (per SMS in NRs) |
---|---|---|---|
India | 30 | 14 | 24 |
Thailand | 135 | 90 | 34 |
Updated new rates:

Additionally, the data roaming charges have been significantly reduced from Rs 40 per MB to just Rs 0.49 per 100 KB, equivalent to Rs 5 per MB. This reduction in data roaming costs will provide users with more affordable access to internet services while traveling.
In Conclusion, Ntc’s decision to lower the roaming tariff to India and Thailand is expected to benefit travelers, allowing them to stay connected with their friends and families at a much lower cost. The reduced charges for calls, SMS, and data usage in these countries will make international roaming services more accessible and affordable for Ntc users.
