The National Examination Board (NEB) is an essential institution in Nepal’s education system, responsible for conducting and managing examinations for Class 10 (Secondary Education Examination, SEE) and Class 11 & 12 (School Leaving Certificate Examination, SLCE) at national levels.

Established in 2016, NEB plays a very important role in ensuring quality, fairness, and consistency in educational evaluations all across the country.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Developing and conducting examinations: NEB manages and administers two key examinations:
    • Secondary Education Examination (SEE): Conducted at the state level for Class 10 students.
    • School Leaving Certificate Examination (SLCE): Conducted at the central level for Class 11 and 12 students.
  • Maintaining examination standards: NEB ensures consistency and fairness in exams across the country, upholding high quality and promoting equality in assessment.
  • Guiding school education assessments: NEB provides support and guidance to schools and local authorities in conducting internal and external assessments at different levels.
