Bachelors in Fashion Designing in Nepal is provided through 2 different programs:

Bachelors in Fashion Design and Management (BFDM)

Overview

Bachelors in Fashion Design and Management (BFDM) is a newly introduced course that is a successor to Bachelors of Fashion Design (BFDM). Under the school of Management, this course is designed to be an exceptional and international standard curriculum that stimulates creativity and innovation among students and prepares them for professional excellence in this challenging and growing industry of fashion. Intense theoretical, practical, and technical training is provided to the students to achieve excellence in coming up with innovative design concepts along with proficiency for basic as well as advanced processes and techniques in areas such as sketching, pattern making, draping, embroidery, apparel design, clothing construction, textile design/analysis, computer-aided design, etc.

This program will also provide students a strong understanding of the historical perspectives and theories of fashion along with the global concepts and practices of the business/marketing side of it. The graduated students will have transformed into versatile fashion specialists equipped for success in fashion’s incredibly creative and exciting world.

Course Duration

BFDM is a 4-year (8 semesters) course. This course was introduced by Namuna College of Fashion Technology which is affiliated with Purbanchal University.

Admission Eligibility

The willing candidate must have completed +2 or equivalent exams with a minimum of 35% aggregate marks or 2.00 CGPA in any faculty from any college/ board recognized by the Purbanchal University. Students who are waiting for their +2 results can also apply on a provisional basis. Students need not have previous fashion design training.

BA (Hons) in Fashion and Retailing

Overview

BA (Hons) in Fashion and Retailing is a program designed for students who want to pursue Fashion Designing from the school of Arts. This course is designed in a way that it blends state-of-art technology, basic concepts, and constant interaction with global attitudes and trends. Blend of disciplinary skills, creative stimulation, and intensive practical application this course provides the best advantage to make a successful career in the growing industry of fashion. The students are exposed to creative merchandising, marketing, CAD orientation of fashion trends through field visits and project presentations with stress on multimedia instructions method.  The training and course structure focuses on software orientation, competence, and professional excellence which will provide the students constant innovation and creative versatility through computer-aided course structure which is proving to be mandatory for the students of fashion.

This course will help students evaluate, predict ad respond to fast-changing fashion trends and remain ahead of cut and curve. It will help students develop their creative capabilities as they move forward in the world of the Global Fashion Industry. The course will help students understand the structure and design principles that are crucial in the industry while they also learn about merchandising, retail and display.
