Low Pass Rates in Nepal’s Engineering License Examination

The Nepal Engineering Council has reported that only 801 out of 24,774 candidates successfully passed the license examination conducted on July 6, 7, and 8. This follows a similar trend from the previous license examination held in March, where 72 percent of candidates failed to meet the minimum requirements for a license.

Out of the total 25,668 candidates who had applied for the exam, 94 were absent from the recent examination. The subjects covered in the license examination encompass various fields of engineering, with notable participation from students specializing in civil engineering

According to Chairman Padma Bahadur Shahi, a significant number of failed students had pursued their engineering studies abroad. The examination’s questions are based on the curriculum covered in the first to fourth years of engineering courses, which might present challenges for those who studied abroad.
