National Examination Board (NEB) to Reveal SEE 2079/2080 Results in Third Week of Ashad

Date: June 11, 2023

Introduction:

The National Examination Board (NEB) is all set to declare the results of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) for the academic year 2079/2080 during the third week of Ashad. Over 485,000 students from 12,083 schools across the country eagerly await their results.

The NEB is currently engaged in the systematic task of evaluating answer sheets and finalizing the results. Mr. Vishnunarayan Shrestha, the Controller of Examinations for Class 10, stated that the process of transporting answer sheets and tallying results at the central office is nearing completion.

To streamline the evaluation process, 51 designated centers throughout the nation have been entrusted with scrutinizing the answer sheets. After the exams, the answer sheets are sent to their respective centers. Once all the answer sheets are received and recorded, the data is entered into a computer system for result computation.

The SEE examinations took place from March 31 to April 12, 2023, with nearly equal participation from male and female students—242,674 boys and 242,712 girls. Interestingly, this year’s SEE examination was conducted not only in Nepal but also in Japan, expanding the geographical reach of the examination.

The grading guidelines are still under contemplation. Last year, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology revised the guidelines, stipulating a minimum score of 35 percent for theoretical components and 40 percent for practical components.

Under the revised guidelines, students scoring below 35 percent were labeled as ‘non-graded,’ rendering them ineligible for admission to Class 11. However, the previous guidelines allowed those with less than 20 marks, classified as ‘E,’ to seek admission to Class 11.

Due to a large number of students falling into the ungraded category with the revised guidelines, the board reverted to the old grading system while announcing last year’s results. This time, the NEB, under the guidance of Chairman Dr. Mahashram Sharma, will determine whether to follow the old or revised grading guidelines when releasing the results.
