Nepal Sanskrit University Successfully Completed Convocation Ceremony after 12 Years

The fifth convocation ceremony of Nepal Sanskrit University was recently held, marking the completion of a significant milestone after a gap of 12 years. A total of 575 students were initiated during the ceremony, which witnessed the participation of prominent figures from the academic and political spheres.
The convocation ceremony, which took place after 12 years, saw the participation of 4,473 graduates who completed their studies between 2067 and 2076. The graduates belonged to various disciplines, including Shastri, one-year Shiksha Shastri, Bachelor of Ayurveda (BAMS), Acharya, and Vidyavaridhi.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ who serves as the Chancellor of Nepal Sanskrit University, presided over the ceremony. Professor Hareram Tripathi, the Chancellor of Sampuranand Sanskrit University in Varanasi, India, also honored the event with his presence.
During the convocation ceremony, Ashok Kumar Rai, the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, and the Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Sanskrit University, highlighted the university’s establishment. Minister Rai encouraged the newly initiated students to play an active role in promoting global peace, humanity, and brotherhood.
Furthermore, Minister Rai emphasized that Sanskrit literature is a shared heritage that transcends caste, class, community, and political affiliation. Vice-Chancellor Prada Yadav Prakash Lamichhane stated that the Shastri level curriculum has been revised and implemented after 22 years. Additionally, a Bachelor of Ayurveda (BAMS) program has been introduced, and preparations for an architecture curriculum are underway. Vice-Chancellor Lamichhane also announced the initiation of a project to construct an integrated naturopathy hospital and Ayurveda herbal garden.
The convocation ceremony was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Amik Sherchan, a member of Nepal Sanskrit University, Chief of Lumbini Province, Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, former Chief Ministers, Provincial Government Ministers, and elected federal and provincial assembly members from the district.
