Padma Kanya Campus Awards Scholarships to Hotel Management Students for Middle East Internships

Date: May 8, 2023

Overview:

Padma Kanya Multiple Campus in Nepal has provided scholarships to six Hotel Management students participating in internships in the Middle East. The scholarship will cover airfare and visa expenses, providing a unique opportunity for students to gain experience abroad.

The Hotel Management program at Padma Kanya Campus has been running since 2076. This year, six students from the sixth and seventh semesters of the program were selected to participate in internships abroad. To ensure that students are not burdened with high costs, the campus provided scholarships worth Rs.75,000, covering airfare and visa expenses for the selected students.

The scholarship recipients were presented with the award at an event at the Faculty of Management campus at Tribhuvan University. Assistant Dean Prof. Dr. Shree Krishna Kharel, Campus Head Dr. Jayalakshmi Pradhan, and Director of Nepal Tourism Board, Laxman Gautam, were present at the event and bid farewell to the students.

Out of the six students, two will be interning at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dubai, while the remaining four will be at the Lagoona Beach Resort in Bahrain. During the event, the Assistant Dean shared his experience of starting the Hotel Management program at Padma Kanya Campus and the challenges he faced in recruiting students.

Director of the Board, Lakshman Gautam, praised the campus for providing scholarships to students, and the Campus Head, Jayalakshmi Pradhan, explained that although the university’s regulations require a fee of Rs.6,00,000 to be charged at the religious campus, the campus invested in the form of scholarships to support the students.

The Assistant Campus Head, Raju Malla, and Director of the Hotel Management Department, Dr. Umesh Regmi, encouraged the students to contribute to the tourism and hotel industry, and the scholarship recipient, Rija Shrestha, expressed her gratitude towards the campus for covering the expenses related to their internship.

Conclusion: The scholarship awarded by Padma Kanya Campus provides a unique opportunity for students to gain valuable experience abroad. This scholarship initiative is commendable and sets a precedent for other institutions to follow in supporting students who wish to intern abroad.
