President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba Wishes Women’s Day

President Bhandari and Prime Minister Deuba have spoken to wish all on the occasion of 112th International Women’s Day.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari emphasized the need to build a civil society without any sort of discrimination against women. She further said that in Nepal there still exists superstitions and orthodox practices that affects women, to eradicate them and ensure women’s empowerment, and equality both men and woman should play an active role in it.

Provisions made through the constitution and laws have helped strengthen the leadership of women in the government, parliament and policy-making bodies and Nepal’s effort for empowerment, participation, and gender equality have shown progress as per various indicators of gender equality, stating this President has wished energy and enthusiasm to continue the conquest to ensure justice and equality.

Prime Minister Deuba has wished everyone on the occasion. He extended best wishes and respect to women and to everyone committed to ensuring the gender, social, economic and political rights of women.

He adds women’s day has been encouraging all to provide equal opportunities to women in all sectors and move ahead in the path of gender equality. The constitution of Nepal has built a proportional, inclusive and equitable society by eradicating every sort of discrimination against women.

International Women’s Day is celebrated under the national slogan “Social Justice and Gender Equity: Guarantee of Sustainable Development”.
