  • PTE test does not specify an amount in NRS. The test-takers need to pay USD 180 + 15% tax and NRS 500 Bank Charge. If the exchange rate of USD rises, the test will be very expensive for the test takers/ students.
  • The test is an integrated test, the test takers need to do well on every part of the test, and in every question to ensure high scores.
  • Although the speaking test is done through a computer may seem like an advantage, but the disadvantage lies in accents, if a person has a thick accent the computer might not be able to accurately assess your Speaking test.
  • The test time also acts as a huge drawback. The test taker has a limited test time in every question in a section of the test, the time limit is inflexible, thus if the test taker gets nervous or misses their chance to answer, they will not able to score in the questions.
  • There is only one type of test that is globally accepted as an English Proficiency test; PTE Academic. There is no other test type one can choose if the test taker does require an Academic English Proficiency test.
  • The test is fully computer-delivered, which plays acts as a huge drawback for people who aren’t used to working with a computer. It is also a disadvantage who prefer traditional Paper-based tests.

Challenges and Precautions for PTE Test takers.

The PTE test only recently gained popularity in Nepal, there aren’t many trustworthy PTE Preparation centers in Nepal. PTE is quite a complicated test with new test concepts of it being an integrated test and a fully computer Delivered test. The preparation for the test should be with a fully equipped preparation center and an experienced teacher.

There are far too less test centers in the country and almost all are located inside the Kathmandu Valley except one.  Due to a smaller number of test centers and the high number of test-takers, the test-takers/ students must wait months before they appear for a test.

This test is rather simple if one manages to understand the test format, time limits, and question types. Or else this test might prove to be one of the hardest tests a student has faced. The test is not designed like other English Proficiency tests and thus is quite complicated and difficult. Thus, a test taker must be well prepared for a PTE test otherwise, the test taker may attain less scores even though they may have frequently heard that PTE is a Simple test.
