South Asian Women’s Conference for Global Solidarity to end Violence Against Women starts from Today

South Asian Regional Conference organised by Woman Rights Activists aiming to create global solidarity to end all forms of violence and discrimination against women and girls starts from today 15th March till 16th March.

The conference would emphasize revealing different aspects of violence against women and girls and ways to ensure violence affected women’s access to justice, informed the organisers. They added, the conference will be joined by hundreds of participants who are diplomats, experts and prominent women and human rights activists of the South Asian Region to examine prevailing problems and prospective solutions to violence against women.

National Human Rights Commission, National Women Commission, Women NGO Federation and Every Woman Treaty jointly organised the conference.

Meera Khanna, Women Rights Activist from India said, the patriarchal structure in South Asian Society as increased violence against women and girls. Sashi Adhikari, President at Women NGO Federation said the conference will address violence against women through a global treaty that has not been addressed by CEDAW (Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women).
