Tribhuvan University Faces Criticism for Biased Decision-Making Process in Favor of Private and Community Campuses

Nevertheless, some campus administrators affiliated with TU expressed their objections, claiming that the decision to add programs favored specific campuses. They protested within the university premises, arguing that QAA should be mandatory for their affiliated campuses but not for others.
In response to the opposition from campus administrators, TU temporarily postponed the decision to include educational programs. The university plans to form a task force that will examine the necessary criteria for incorporating new programs into affiliated campuses. The final decision will be based on the recommendations put forth by the task force.
A member of the Private College Association, who had previously protested against TU’s decision, pointed out, “TU had shown clear favoritism towards a select few campuses when it came to introducing educational programs. It was only after our protest that they formed a task force to investigate the matter.”
On the other hand, Dr. Dhruva Prasad Gautam, the head professor of TU’s planning directorate, clarified that the decision to issue notices about the inclusion of educational programs was delayed due to implementation challenges. He emphasized that TU has more than 1000 affiliated campuses, out of which only 70 have obtained QAA accreditation.
To regain trust and promote equal opportunities among all affiliated campuses, it is crucial for TU to address the concerns raised by various stakeholders and ensure a transparent and unbiased decision-making process regarding the addition of educational programs.
